Like the Audi skysphere concept and Audi grandsphere concept before it, Audi will introduce the urbansphere virtually. The study, which was developed in close cooperation with Audi’s design studios in Beijing and its headquarters in Ingolstadt and is the first Audi car to reflect the wishes and experiences of Chinese customers, documents how Audi is interpreting the car as a third living space. The world is changing rapidly; recent developments, of which the coronavirus pandemic was but one, have catapulted the global community into a new reality. “In these challenging times, we must develop a vision together of how a better future can look. Especially now, where our European values are threatened by war, we need art and culture more than ever!” emphasizes Georgian star violinist Lisa Batiashvili. The Audi Summer Concerts take on this cultural mission. With extraordinary artists from all over Europe, the festival will demonstrate how music can overcome borders and bring people together. Under the festival motto “Visions of the Future”, the audience will also taste the music of the future that pushes the boundaries between classical music, jazz, and pop. “This year, we are taking each concert as an opportunity to try out something new, something that speaks its own language and lets us hear and experience classical music in a new way,” says Batiashvili in explanation of her approach as the festival’s artistic director. “We will provide a stage for the next generation of musicians, and we will show how a new collaboration between young talents and great artists can sound.”

Audiences can look forward to world-class artists from Europe, Germany, and the Ingolstadt region. Two large German orchestras will open and close the festival program. Together with Lisa Batiashvili, the Munich Philharmonic under renowned Finnish conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali will kick off the concert series on 30 June.

In addition to “Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 77” by Dmitri Shostakovich, which the Georgian star violinist sees as a symbol of freedom, audiences in the Klenzepark can also look forward to “Symphonic Dances from West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein – as if to encourage all to keep on dancing. Reminding us that music can empower, even in difficult times. At the second Audi Klassik Open Air concert, Audi will provide a stage for exceptional young talent Tsotne Zedginidze (*2009): Together with the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt, the young pianist, who has been called “the Mozart of the 21st century”, will present Alfred Schnittke’s “Concerto for Piano and Strings”. On 1 July, more future sounds will be presented by the Audi Wind Philharmonic under the direction of Pietro Sarno, including sci-fi film music by Alexander Courage and John Williams.

Concert highlights with Daniel Barenboim and Sir Simon Rattle

A special highlight of the concert program, Lisa Batiashvili and Daniel Barenboim will demonstrate their greatness as a duo on 3 July: With the “Rain Song Sonata” by Johannes Brahms and Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Sonata for Piano and Violin”, they will make their close artistic partnership heard. Another ideally matched couple will give a guest performance in Ingolstadt when opera star Magdalena Kožená and her husband Sir Simon Rattle present rare chamber music compositions on 7 July. As the top historical ensemble for many years standing, the Academy for Early Music Berlin, along with the the Audi Young Persons’ Choral Academy under the direction of Martin Steidler, will present music of world renown with Mendelssohn’s “St. Paul oratorio” on 2 July.

Again this year, Audi is opening up new concert spaces on its company premises. On 8 July, sensational pianist Beka Gochiashvili and his eponymous trio will bring vibrant jazz to one of Audi’s company cafeterias. The Audi museum mobile is also opening its door to a large audience: On 3 July, prodigy Tsotne Zedginidze will play pieces by Mozart as well as his own compositions that are “so modern and beautiful that you have never really heard music like this before” (Lisa Batiashvili). Four Stradivaris can be heard at museum mobile on 9 July during a concert by the Munich Goldmund Quartet with works by Joseph Haydn and Franz Schubert among others.

Overcoming borders: The Frankfurt Radio Symphony and DJ event

The concert series will culminate on July 10 in a concert by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony featuring world-famous oboist François Leleux and Alain Altinoglu, one of the most important conductors of our age. The program will include works by Richard Wagner, contemporary Chinese-French composer Qigang Chen, and Gustav Mahler. After the symphony concert, the festival’s electro finale will take place in the foyer of Stadttheater Ingolstadt, hosted by a newcomer on the German DJ scene whose music is an energetic fusion of electronic and classical music. This genre-bending mix creates an entirely new, unique sound that knows no bounds and is created live for the audience.

The Audi Summer Concerts 2022 will take place from 30 June to 10 July 2022. Children below the age of 11 have free admission to all concerts when accompanied by their parents.

Electromobility, autonomous driving, digital business processes: Anyone interested in the future of mobility and starting a career in the automotive industry will find exciting career fields and perspectives at Audi. "We teach key skills in the future fields of digitalization and electromobility right from the start and aim to shape real change together with our trainees in the long term," says Christoph Hermreck, Head of Audi Vocational Training and Dual Study Programs Ingolstadt. Christian Hacker, Head of Training and Further Education at Audi in Neckarsulm, adds: "We are constantly expanding our vocational portfolio and adapting it to the crucial future areas of the company. These include automation and IT professions as well as professions in vehicle construction and the production process." This year, school students can once again apply for vocational training at Audi's Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm sites.

At the Ingolstadt site, the DBFH occupations of IT specialist in application development with university entrance qualification (DBFH) and automotive mechatronics technician in electromobility with university entrance qualification (DBFH) give young talents not only the chance to acquire skills within vocational training, but also to prepare for an academic career in the fields of the future.

Perspectives for the next generation

Whether it's cutting-edge technology in cars, robots in the plant or IT in the company – exciting tasks await trainees at Audi. At audi.com/deineZukunft, interested parties can find out about specializations such as data and process analysis or digital networking and learn more about skills such as additive manufacturing (3D printing) or programming. On the careers website, they can also meet Mara, Zachary, Atash and Gina, who talk about their training or dual studies at Audi.

Mobile learning plays a major role in transferring knowledge and has been firmly anchored in the training curriculum at Audi since September 2021 with a company agreement. Depending on the occupation, trainees are provided with tablets or laptops as digital learning companions, with which they can also learn content flexibly off-site. In general, however, training continues to take place on-site − at the Audi training centers or in the many different areas of operation.

Audi Vocational Training Ingolstadt will offer several 30-minute sessions from 5:00 p.m. on April 5 to 7, 2022, each focusing on one job description. The Neckarsulm site's series of events will take place from April 26 to 28, 2022. Here, participants can get in touch with trainees and trainers and ask questions about the respective profession in a live chat. Further live streams on vocational training and dual studies will follow from June 27 to 29, 2022, in Ingolstadt and on June 29, 2022, in Neckarsulm.

All you need to do is open the menu for the Audi drive select dynamic handling system. There are seven modes available: efficiency, comfort, auto, dynamic, RS Individual, and the two RS 3–specific driving profiles, RS Performance for the racetrack and RS Torque Rear for use on closed roads. That last mode is the setting you need to drift in the RS 3.

The essential technical feature for this is the RS Torque Splitter – one of the top innovations in the Audi RS 3. Although the quattro drivetrain is identical to the predecessor model as far as the rear axle, the rear-axle differential with an upstream multiplate clutch package has now been replaced by an electronically controlled multiplate clutch on each drive shaft. This enables the RS Torque Splitter to distribute the drive torque for the rear axle between the rear wheels fully variably. The result is better stability, particularly on wet ground, and improved agility during fast cornering.

Here’s how it all works, technically speaking: The torque delivered to the transmission by the engine is converted depending on the gear selected and applied at the differential housing of the front-axle drive as overall drive torque. From there, the overall drive torque is distributed to the front wheels via the front-axle differential and, when the clutches of the RS Torque Splitter are closed, to the rear axle via the angle drive and the cardan shaft.
